VICKY-MAY GIRAUD

Multilingual French/Swedish artist based in Paris

I have been painting since the age of 9. Inspired by a visit to the Sistine Chapel, and particularly Michelangelo’s frescoes, I returned home and painted the whole of my bedroom. Everything within that room became my canvas - wall, ceiling, my bed and beyond.

I have exhibited across France and Sweden. I mainly sell to private clients, generating further sales by word of mouth.

Initially focusing on masculine figures, I now portray women via different themes. As well as the portraits, you will find a number of abstract pieces.

I usually create using oil and acrylic paint or charcoal but decided to switch to digital painting. This move coincided with a particular moment in my life, in which the future is tangible yet distant; this future will only become reality if I pursue it.

My project VMG Perceptions is based on the concepts « To Tantalise » and « Being Marked ». With the use of the verbs, I am focusing on the idea of being engaged in depicting what passion looks like. A passion that is the uncontrollable desire that emanates from the kind of love that creeps under your skin, tattooing your very heart and soul. Being marked by love, and so, marked by thoughts, and where it will lead. This is a journey into the past and the future, marked by a new way of working. A move into new territory, into paradigms where abstract impressionism meets digital glitching.

I hope you will feel all these elements and rediscover the feeling of attraction, obsession, possession and temptation.
